Joseph R. Gottschalk, 22, of Kingston died Saturday February 10, 2024. Born August 29, 2001 in Kingston he was the son of Melinda Petersen and the late Keith Gottschalk Jr.
Joseph was a 2019 graduate of Kingston High School and Ulster BOCES where he obtained his
HVAC Certifications and currently enrolled as a full-time Student at Ulster County Community College for Business. He spent a few years working in the HVAC field and decided he wanted to try new things. Joseph was most recently employed with HealthAlliance as a Peri-Op Tech in the OR., however his dreams were still larger so he recently began talking Business Classes at Ulster County Community/ College as a full-time student and he was so excited to embark on this new journey.
Joseph loved life he loved to laugh, smile and was all about having a good time. He liked to see those he cared for most happy and thriving always pushing them to do better always giving a listening ear. He loved going to the gym and cooking ( he liked his mother's cooking most of all ) but he was learning his way around the kitchen and so proud of his new skill. He loved his car, fishing, camping but more than anything his closest friends, his girlfriend, and his family, that is what Joseph loved more than anything in this world. He was always surrounded by family and friends, not a day went by where he didn't pick up-the phone just to check in or stop by to see what was cooking for dinner.
In addition to his mother Melinda Petersen he is survived by his siblings; Hannah Gottschalk, Blake Gottschalk, Makenzie Gottschalk, Gabriella Smith and Ava Petersen. Grandparents Thomas and Donna Petersen and Keith and Donna Gottschalk. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends, "you know who you are" also survive.
He was predeceased by his father Keith Gottschalk Jr.
Joseph will be so deeply missed by so many. He was an amazing person, and his family wants to take time to thank the community for the outpouring of love and support and his mother would like her sons passing to only serve as a lesson that if you need help, please reach out because you are not alone.
