Joseph A. "Joe" Greer, 69 of Cottontown passed away Monday, April 4, 2022, at Skyline Medical Center, Nashville, TN. Born in Davidson County, TN January 25, 1953, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Greer, Sr. and Catherine Reynolds Greer. Joe was also preceded in death by his siblings, Laverne, Robert "BoBo", Delores, James, Margaret and Ronath. Joe loved cars, especially Chevelles, and was an avid racer. A businessman and gifted mechanic he spent his working career involved with the many aspects of his automotive interests. He was a talented paint and body man, drove a tow truck, and had a strong work ethic that he has passed on to his children, grandchildren, and extended family. Joe was devoted to his family and would extend his hospitality to others in need. He would "take anybody in". He possessed a giving heart and generous spirit. Joe was affectionately known as "Papa" and "Daddy" to everyone in his circle. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Greer; his children, Carol Jones, Robert (Rhonda) Shoemaker, Billy Shoemaker Greer (Lisa Witucki), Joann Hulka (Bookie), Kathy Greer, Lisa Greer (Brian Cole), and Heather Lawson (Randall); his 18 grandchildren, JoJo, Artie, Brandy, Taboo, Brian S., Jamie, Josh, Chris H. "Button", Danielle, Avery, Brandon, Desi, Man Man, Angel, T.J., Brian C., Haley and Tom Tom; numerous great-grandchildren; his first wife, Alice Horton; his nieces, Kathy Chumbley, Pamala Alexander and Linda Sullivan ; and his fur babies. Visitation for Joe will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, TN on Sunday, April 10th from 1 – 5 pm and Monday, April 11th from 10 am until 12 pm. A celebration of life service will be held at the funeral home Monday at 12 noon followed by one final ride down the drag strip and then burial at Spring Hill Cemetery.
