Uncle Joe was such a gentle soul and funny man. It was always a great time when he, Aunt Odette, and Vickie would come east to visit family. After he got diagnosed with MS, I got to visit him several times in Ridgecrest and we always had a great time. The dignity and bravery he showed in suffering with such a horrible disease was also an inspiration to me. He was taken far too soon, but he still lives on in many great memories. And, I'm sure he's got them all laughing real hard "upstairs" right now! RIP, Uncle Joe.

I only met Joe and Odete a couple times and he is one of the nicest people I ever met. I know my son Chesli thought the world of him and the support he and Odette always gave him and Vickie.

I was shocked to learn of Jos passing and so very sad! We had talked the week before and as usual had teased me about how hot it was there and how I should be practicing my Popeye arms for the snow that would soon be coming. He was funny and kind and so gentle! We will miss you but also know that you are in a good place ! Look over us and don t laugh so much at our stupidity! Love you !

Uncle Joe was a fun guy and obviously well-loved. I am sad not to have had the chance to see him and actually get to know him more in these last few years, so most of my memories are from when I was a teenager. But I did get a chance to chat over the phone during the Holidays over the years and the conversation was always easy and interesting.
My heart goes out to Matante Dette and Vickie and all those who knew him.

Joe was an amazing person and is dearly missed.
I was fortunate enough to have met Joe around 2004. One of the first things you noticed about Joe, aside from his stature, was his wit and sense of humor. He was always cracking jokes and finding the humor in most, if not all, situations. When he was not joking, he was very insightful, wise and generous, offering much needed advice to someone much less wise and insightful as he, as well as helping his daughter and me when we were struggling to get on our feet. He also loved animals, and was as fond of cats as myself, which I think is a testament to his personality, character and the type of person Joe was.
My fondest memories of Joe were the times he was still able to come visit us in Northern California, going to Las Vegas with him, and going on a tour of his place of work. He, of course, loved his daughter deeply and wanted to see her as much as time would permit. He also loved going to Las Vegas and staying at Bally's, where had better luck than most... exponentially better than mine. He took great pride in, and was enthusiastic about, his work and his contribution to the country as both a veteran and a civilian contractor.
As Joe's multiple sclerosis became progressively worse, and he became less mobile, he was not able to travel, and he was not able to see us as often as he liked to. Despite his condition, he still kept is wit and sense of humor; his insights, wisdom, and generosity. I can say with certainty, that having met Joe, spent time with him and discussing with him, my life was much brighter and better having met him and having him in itI think this goes for anyone who was fortunate enough to have met him.
He is dearly missed and will always be remembered.
