Joseph Hice Obituary
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Joseph J. Hice, who left us on March 14, 2026. Joseph was born to Rebecca Quiroz and Joseph Hice on April 14, 1999.
He was a strong-willed, hardworking and independent man, deeply rooted in his love for the outdoors and mountains. Though tough in spirit, he carried a great heart for those he loved, and above all, he cherished being a father to his daughter.
He is proceeded in death by his father Joseph Hice; grandfather Martin R. Quiroz; uncles Martin R. Quiroz, Timothy, Mark and Richard Hice; and cousin Anthony Hice.
Joseph was survived by his daughter Lainey Hice (mother Destiny Colombe); mother Rebecca O. Quiroz; grandmothers Maria Vigil and Berlinda Martinez; brother Glen Lujan; sisters Melissa Gallegos (Leonard) and Olivia Quiroz (Alejandro); nephews and Nieces: AJ San Juan (Brianna) Esperanza San Juan, Angel San Juan, Alejandro Ortiz Jr., Lenisiana and Leonard Gallegos; aunt Dora Salazar (Joe Salazar); cousins Cindy, Estevan Sergio Quiroz, Sarah Salazar, Derek, Mark, Christopher, Brittany, Caitlin and Canisha Hice.
He will deeply be missed by his Family, many close friends and relatives.
A Memorial Service will be held at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory in Espanola, NM, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 10:00 am. with Burial to follow at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Canoncito, NM.
Pallbearers: Glen Lujan, Leonard Gallegos, Alejandro Ortiz Sr., Alejandro Ortiz Jr., Joe Salazar, Aj San Juan, Abram Chacon and Damian Chacon.
