Joseph Hinkle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery - Nashville on Aug. 9, 2022.
Joseph Wayne Hinkle, (Bro. Joe), 86, of Goodlettsville, TN, passed away on August 8, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Earnest Elmore Hinkle and Frances Elizabeth Carter Hinkle.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Carol Hall Hinkle, a daughter, Lisa Hinkle Henline, a daughter, Laura Hinkle Liles (Richard), and grandchildren John Henline (Jordan), Heidi Henline, David Liles and Leah Liles.
Joe was born in Old Hickory, TN but lived most of his life in Goodlettsville and graduated from Goodlettsville High School. Joe was called into the ministry and ordained at First Baptist Church Goodlettsville where he also met and married his wife Carol. He baptized all of his children and grandchildren.
A pastor for 70 years, Joe started preaching when he was 16 and his first congregation was his horse. He served as a Baptist minister in several churches in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Florida. He had a heart for evangelism and discipleship, and he spent decades with the Baptist Sunday School Board, traveling across the US to help equip, teach, and strengthen others in ministry.
Later he traveled the back roads of Robertson Co, visiting and praying with families going through tough times and telling people about Jesus.
Since a pastor never retires, he continued his ministry to thousands of Facebook friends over the years, posting Bible verses and sharing the Word with his online church community.
He loved to fish, garden, drink coffee and have a good conversation. He never met a stranger and was a friend and encourager to many. With a joyful gleam in his big blue eyes, he would say "Everything is marvelous. Everything is lovely."
Finally, Joe would want all to remember this: Keep the main thing, the main thing -- and the main thing is JESUS!
Joe wanted his celebration of life to be with family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Veranda Ministries (theverandaministries.org). The Veranda Ministries in Gallatin was a wonderful support for Joe and the family as they navigated through the various stages of dementia.
An entombment ceremony will take place on Monday, August 15th, 2022 at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery at 11:00 AM. Attendees are asked to meet at the funeral home around 10:30 AM, and will follow the Spring Hill staff in procession to the Serenity Mausoleum.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, "Where Nashville Comes to Remember."

Bro. Joe and Mrs. Carol will forever be remembered by our family. He was our pastor at BPBC for several years and had such an enthusiam about it, hit was contagious. God surely had a place picked out just for Bro. Joe for when he made his way to his Father's Kingdom.
