Joseph Perry Howe, 68, of Crow Agency, passed away on November 25, 2025, in Crow Agency. He was born on October 14, 1957, in Crow Agency, a son of Frederick and Myrtle Reed Howe Sr. Joseph Perry was named after his grandfathers: Papa George Joe Reed and Perry Howe. He was a member of the Whistling Water Clan and was a child of the Whistling Water.
Joe received his early education in St. Xavier Mission, Montana. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting in the Big Horn mountains and fishing along the creeks of the Little Horn River and Big Horn River.
In 1964, Joe and his brother Kayle had heart conditions that required surgery in Rochester, Minnesota, which required a six-week stay for the family and periodic checkups in Minnesota.
He married Loni Bennett and was later divorced. Joe and Melody Harris had three children together: Tiffany, Justin, and Wade. He later married Agnes Birdingroud, and from this union were Burdette Joseph and Marley Rose.
Joe lived and worked on the Flathead Indian Reservation from 2011 to 2013 in Elmo, MT, with his auntie-mom, whom he was very close to, and the Couture family.
Lived in Seattle, WA, for a year in 2021. He joined the Chief Seattle Club and there learned to make hand drums as a hobby. He reconnected with his niece, Amy, and grandson, Joshua Howe, and they would explore the city together, dining out and shopping. He got a job at a restaurant and got an apartment in downtown Seattle, but he missed his hometown and the Crow Rez and made the decision to move back after one year to be around his brother, Garland.
Joe worked as a wildland firefighter and was a part of the Helitack Crew in Crow Agency. Later, he became a Laborer at various Jobs over the years. He loved to clean and keep things tidy.
His parents, sister Marva Knows His Gun; brothers Kayle, Garland, and Frederick Jr.; nephews, David Howe, and Frankie Knows His Gun; his aunts Inez Birdinground, Annette Couture, Rose Ann Reed, and Wilma Brien; uncles George Reed Jr., Harlan, Anthony Reed, Alvin, Ralph, and Layman Howe preceded Joseph in death.
Survivors include his children, Tiffany Matt, Justin, Wade, Burdette Joseph (BJ) and Marley Rose (Audrey); his sisters, Cheryl (Tommy) Dawes and Allison Knows His Gun; his brothers, Barry K. (Roxanne) Howe; his aunts, Delma Fox and Ruby Williamson; nephews, Joseph Eliot, Frederick III, Isaiah, Garland Joe and Kevin Howe and Benie Dale Fredericks; nieces Amy, Angie (Chris), Stella, Nicole, Susie, Chris Ann and Crystal Fredericks and his extended family including the Reed, Bird in Ground, Couture, Hogan, Snell, Chavez, Old Elk, Holds, Brien, Fox, Yellowtail, Rock Above, Davis, Grinnell, Baker, Hall, Fredericks, Youngbear, Pretty on Top, Stewart, Pretty Weasel, Walking Bear, Yarlott, Onion, Big Hair, He Does It, Don't Mix, Covers Up, Plain Bull, Mullenberg, Good Horse, and Fighter families.
