Joseph Mumford Ketron Jr., a man who embraced life with vigor and passion, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, in his beloved home state of Virginia at the age of 92. Born on April 2, 1933, Joseph spent his life dedicated to his family, his country, and his many interests that brought joy and inspiration to those around him.
A retired Air Force veteran, Joseph proudly served his country, embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment throughout his career. His dedication to service was evident in every facet of his life, inspiring those who knew him to live with integrity and purpose.
Joseph found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He could often be found line dancing with friends, sharing laughter and camaraderie. His adventurous spirit led him to frequent visits to Busch Gardens, where he delighted in the thrills and shared memorable moments with loved ones. His love for scary movies was a cherished tradition shared with Angela, creating lasting memories of thrilling nights and shared excitement.
Always eager to learn and experience more, Joseph was a regular visitor to the Ft. Eustis Museum, where he immersed himself in history and marveled at the stories of the past. His enthusiasm for aviation was ever-present as he enjoyed watching air shows, finding awe and wonder in the skill and grace of flight.
Preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Cordle and Joseph Mumford Ketron Sr.; his beloved first wife, Peggy Ketron; his son, Steven Ketron; and his brothers, Jerry and Jim Ketron, Joseph leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration. He is survived by his devoted second wife, Catherine Wolf. His children, Joey, Daphne, and Robbie Ketron, carry forward his spirit of resilience and warmth. His grandchildren, Carmen Ketron, Joseph Ketron IIII, and Brian Ketron, and several great-grandchildren are testaments to his enduring legacy and the love he spread across generations.
Joseph's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and dedication. His memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him, reminding us to embrace life's adventures with open hearts and fearless spirits.
