Joseph Michael Knox, 42, of Tabernacle, New Jersey, passed away on May 3rd, after a heroic battle with angiosarcoma.
Joe was born in Camden, New Jersey on July 14, 1982, to the late Michael Anthony and Margaret Ann (nee Clarke) Knox. Joe graduated from Pemberton Township High School in 2001 and served honorably in the United States Coast Guard from 2002 to 2007 at Station Charlevoix in Charlevoix, Michigan. During his service, he achieved the rank of Machinery Technician Third Class (MK3) before his honorable discharge. Following his military service, Joe transitioned to a career as a Corrections Officer at the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Fort Dix, New Jersey, where he was an active member of the Disturbance Control Team.
Joe had a zest for life. He was an avid softball player, found joy in riding quads, and spent many hours on the golf course. Through these activities and his everyday actions, Joe lived life fully, with kindness, enthusiasm, and a heart open to all. Joe's generosity knew no bounds. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back, always ready to lend a hand and his selflessness to help others left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Above all, Joe was a devoted husband to Heather (nee Placenti) Knox for 11 years and father to his three daughters: Gabrielle (20), Graicen (17) and Gianna (7). His girls were the center of his universe, and he often said they were his greatest accomplishments. Known as the best "girl dad" ever, he took immense pride in their lives
Joe is survived by his wife Heather, daughters Gabrielle, Graicen and Gianna, brother Michael Knox Jr., in-laws Martin "Rudy" and Catherine Placenti and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Michael Anthony and Margaret Ann Knox.
Family and friends are invited to Joe's visitation on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054, where the Memorial Service will follow at 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joe's name to Steps to Cure Sarcoma foundation at Penn Medicine
