Joseph Ambrose Koerper, 65 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 surrounded by family at his bedside. He was born July 18, 1957 to the late Joseph and Jeannette (Powers) Koerper in Chicago, IL. On June 4, 1977 Joe was united in marriage with Barbara Havel in Wauconda, IL. He had many nicknames, but "Easy Joe" and "Big Joe" were his favorite. Joe was employed with TruGreen in Lake Forest and enjoyed working at Happy Acres Campground in Bristol, WI. He loved camping, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family. Joe had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back for anyone. He was a great cook, most notably known for his breakfast. His grandchildren will always remember his famous line, "come here so I can hit ya!" He had an infectious smile and laughter that could be heard from miles away. Joe loved to watch sports, especially his Chicago Cubs and Bears. Above all things, he loved his wife and children and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include, his wife of 45 years, Barbara Koerper; children, Laura (George) Hover, Joseph (Sara) Koerper Jr., and Amanda (Andrew) Lowes; grandchildren, Taylor, Gracie, Alena, Timmy Schawel, Tiffany, Teresa, and Tobey; great-grandchildren, Ryliee and Kodi; future great-granddaughter due in January, Solana; sister, Susan (Marty) Deener; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his siblings, Diana Pierce, Roland Koerper, and Lawrence "Larry" Koerper.
Visitation will be held from 2:00PM until the time of service at 4:00PM Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. Antioch, IL 60002. Interment will be private.
