Joseph Kulha Obituary

Joseph "Skip" Kulha Jr., 78, of Latrobe, passed on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025. He was born Dec. 11, 1946. Preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Joseph; his parents, Joseph and Cecelia (Gendek) Kulha; and brothers, Michael and John. Joseph retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a postmaster in Scottdale. After his retirement, he worked in the finance office at Idlewild Park. He was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish and sang in the Saint Vincent choir for over 20 years. He was a former member and fire chief of the Calumet Fire Department. He was a former Exalted Ruler at Elks Lodge 511 in Greensburg. A former president at American Legion Post 998 in Harrisburg. A member and former finance officer at Unity Post 982. A season ticket holder at Penn State for 37 years. Joseph proudly served in the Marine Reserves for six years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Helen (Firment) Kulha; his brothers, Leonard, Bill, and Jim (Chris). His special family, the Matterns, Sprouts, Sobers, and Lindes. Nothing brought him greater joy than his great-nephew, Jason; and two great-nieces, Jemma and Jayla Lovell. His high energy and positive attitude made him a friend to all. He has served as a father figure and grandfather to so many across multiple generations. His faith and love for Christ are what allowed him to be a great man of God. His home is now in Heaven, so this is not a goodbye, but see you later. Thank you Lord, for allowing Joe in our lives. This life is temporary, but the next is eternal. Praise God, for all those who believe in you shall be together for an eternity in your kingdom. Services are under the direction of HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt. There is no visitation; family and friends are invited to attend Joseph's Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at St. Vincent Basilica; everyone please go directly to the church. Burial with military honors, provided by the Armbrust Veterans Association, to follow in St. Florian Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at hofferwilt.com.

Just remember the times at the reunions. We talked about golf and all subjects of interest. I seen him last month at the nursing home and he was in good spirits. He was looking forward to going home.
