Joseph Paul Leyes, age 64 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025. He was born October 23, 1960 in Blanchester, Ohio the son of the late Joseph and Helen Leyes. Joseph worked as a baker but worked in a number of other fields throughout his life. He was a real Jack of All Trades. He had a green thumb and enjoyed working in his garden growing flowers. Joseph was an avid sports fan, especially of Football and Baseball. His favorite teams were the Jets and the Cincinnati Reds, he also supported UD Basketball. Joseph liked watching Old Westerns and Cartoons, especially the Peanuts, and he liked collecting Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts characters. Joseph cherished time with his family. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend and will be dearly missed.
Joseph is survived by his Wife of 42 years, Mary L. Shadd; Son, Eric D. (Andrea) Shadd; Daughters, Tiffany C. Shadd, Cara B. (Rob) Shadd, Amber E. (Jonathan) Bowman, Hollie M. (Fedaa) Shadd, and Stacy L. Shadd; Grandchildren, Robert, Isabella, Khloe, Ava, Ahmed, Mason, Jaylynn, Sophia, Zain, Anthony, Yasmina, and Lincoln; Sisters, Debbie Young, Kathleen Hughes, and Edith Turpin; Brothers, Forest Leyes, Richard Leyes, and Darryl Leyes; and by numerous other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Centerville (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45459). Visitation will be from 12:00PM until the time of the service at 1:00PM. Interment will follow at Miami - Corwin Cemetery.
