Condolences from Rehabilitation Support Services, Inc. Dr. Libbon was greatly admired for his groundbreaking work in establishing Dominion House in Schenectady in the 1960's. Today there are over 40,000 people living in mental health housing throughout New York. A true pioneer with many admirers.

Dr. Libbon was a wonderful caring physician. He took care of my brother and called me at my home to make sure I was doing well. He truly cared about people. My thoughts are with your family at this time.

I knew Joe Libbon in the 1960's when I was involved with a group of volunteers assisting him in working with psychiatric patients who were either day patients at Ellis Hospital, or residing in Dominion House, a halfway house for discharged psychiatric patients. I have always been impressed by his insights, his kindness, his sense of humor and his humanity. I thought he was a man, way ahead of his time.
He was an inspiration, not only to me, but to many of those who had the good fortune to know and work with him.

I shall always remember him with fondness.

In my opinion Joe was a wonderful psychiatrist, especially in being so advanced during the 1960s. I joined the Ellis staff and worked with him starting in 1962. I resigned from Ellis in 1988 so had little contact with him during the past thirty years, but thought of him often.
