Joseph (Joe) D. Ludwig

KENOSHA, WI - Joseph (Joe) D. Ludwig, 96, of Kenosha passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family Thursday, November 13, 2025 at the Hospice Alliance Hospice House.
He was born on April 5, 1929 to the late Victor and Olga (Nitsch) in Kenosha. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha.
On July 28, 1951 he married Isabel A. Kerley at St. Mark's Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on June 3, 2013.
Joe entered the US Army on January 10, 1951 and was honorably discharged on January 1953. He served in the 174th police battalion and was a prison guard at Leavenworth.
Joe was head of maintenance for Kenosha City Hall for 23 years, retiring on June 1, 1991.
Joe was a lifelong member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and was an usher at the 8:00 a.m., Mass for 26 years.
Joe umpired softball and basketball in Kenosha for over 26 years. Joe was an avid bowler and golfer in his younger years. He enjoyed going to casinos, going to Las Vegas, and playing craps. Joe was a die-hard Cubs fan and a Packers fan.
Joe is survived by his children: JoAnne Darula, Steven (Mary Kay) Ludwig, Thomas (Patti) Ludwig and Jeffrey Ludwig; his grandchildren: Adrien (Toni) Ludwig, Valerie (Josh) Plowman, Sam Darula, Josh Bower, Katie (John) Hasselbrink, Stephanie Ludwig, Megan Ludwig, Tom (Mercedes) Ludwig Jr., Amy Dehne and Malyssa Ludwig; and his great-grandchildren: Max, Gracie, Payton, Gavin, Isabel, Avery, Owen, Alaina, Lily, Blair, Delilah, and Bohdi.
He is preceded in death by a son Daniel, a son-in-law James Darula and his sibling Victor, Max, John, Ann Fetzer, Martha Ludwig, Emma Stone and Olga Zak.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Joe will be held on Friday, November 21st at 10:00 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church (714 – 49th St.). Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m., to 7:00 a.m., at the Bruch Funeral Home and again on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m., until the time of Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Hospice Alliance.
