Joseph Lukachko Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center on Dec. 1, 2025.

Joseph Lukachko, 65, went to live with the angels on November 20th. He is survived by his wife Sharon Kubasak; siblings Chris Lukachko (Linda Lister), Michael Lukachko, Marianne Kocak (Mark), and Mark Lukachko; a nephew and nieces; and lifelong friends. His legacy is preceded by the passing of his Maltese daughter Chanel, his parents Michael and Mary Lukachko, his in-laws Victor and Josephine Kubasak, and his brother-in-law Victor Kubasak.

Joseph was born and raised in Lorain before moving to North Olmsted. After serving in the Air Force as a Senior Airman, he worked private contracts on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Upon returning to Lorain, he pursued his undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems from Cleveland State University. He worked at OfficeMax headquarters before taking a position at Bendix in Avon, where he became IT Business Process Consultant. Through his military service, private contract position, and his lengthy Bendix career, Joseph traveled much of the world.

At home, Joseph led a professional, artistic, and playful life. While his professional proficiency exercised his analytical intelligence and collegial savvy, his personal passion was creation: paintings, sculptures, art objects, carvings, and a sculpture-poetry collaboration with Sharon. Joseph's art pieces touched with intricate, moving (and sometimes whimsical) beauty. He also cultivated flowers: a shocking pink, 28-year old geranium; and a full, white calla lily garden he germinated from the seeds he gathered and dried from a single plant. When riding his Harley-Davidson in the countryside, he experienced additional freedom.

Joseph leaves an imprint from which to learn and a lifetime to admire. He appreciated the sophisticated and the simple: fine dining and Budweiser, elegant surroundings and the magic of a hummingbird in the garage. He laughed. He lent a helping hand. He believed in imagination. He had faith in love and truth. He lived true to himself and proceeded in all he did with quiet, unassuming integrity.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Rev. Father George A. Vrabel will officiate.
