Joe Lusardi, affectionately known as “Unc,” “Papa,” or simply “Dad,” passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 18th! He was a man whose strength, work ethic, generosity, and kindness shaped every life he touched.
Born in Rochester, New York, to Marie and Andy Lusardi in 1949, he grew up alongside his beloved sisters Jackie, Maryanne, and Carol. He graduated from East High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Joe built a lifelong career in the flooring industry and was the proud founder of Lusardi Carpets, where his dedication, integrity, and craftsmanship became his trademark. There truly was no one better at what he did.
He was married to his devoted wife Gale (“Hon” to one another for 54 wonderful years. Together they raised three children—Joey, Christa, and Andrea—and were blessed with seven grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy!
Joe loved golf—especially his time spent with friends at Durand Eastman Golf Club, which held a special place in his heart. He also built the family home he had always wanted on McEwen Drive! A dream come true - a place filled with memories, laughter, and love, where his children and grandchildren gathered for years.
He enjoyed playing cards and the guitar, and was the life of every family party. He especially cherished the New Year’s Eve parties, an amazing family tradition started by his father which he carried on with pride, joy and passion that will be remembered for generations!
He was known not just for what he did, but for who he was—a man who always reminded us: “You are who you hang with, so choose your friends wisely.” He was, and always will be, a superhero to his family!
Joe will be remembered as the strongest, kindest, and most hardworking man his family ever knew—a legacy of love and laughter that lives on in all of us.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, June 24th at Newcomer Cremations and Funerals, 6 Empire Blvd (next to Donuts Delite).
