I really miss you Dad!

What makes someone a role model? Is it that they are rich, famous or powerful. Well, our father, Joe Lydon was a role model. It is easy to say that about someone but his actions re-enforced this every day and in every part of his life. As a husband, Dad loved our Mom more than life itself. He would do anything for her and Mom loved Dad completely. We were always amazed at their special relationship. No one could make our Dad smile more than my Mom. They had a 63 year love affair.

As a father, Dad was our rock and our confidant. We could go to Dad for any problem or issue and he was there to guide us and help us through it. And over the years we brought him a few challenging problems. But, he would listen, never judge and do whatever he could to help us. As a father in law, he treated and loved each spouse as if they were one of his own children. So, that meant occasionally they got the lecture on religion or politics...Dad as you know was not shy. As grandfather and great grandfather he was loving and caring but would let the grandkids know when he thought they were not on the right track. He loved to listen to their successes and was so proud of each of them. As a son, Dad loved and respected his Mother deeply. We always said we had two Mom's growing up because Grandmom Lydon lived with us. And when Grandmom got sick and was bedridden for well over a year Dad and Mom took care of her at home until she passed away.

So as a husband, father, father in law, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother and friend; Dad was truly a role model. I see his legacy continuing with my brother Joe and sister Marie in how they are living their lives and all they have done for my Dad and Mom. Let me end this rememberance the way my Dad ended every call I had with him..."Tell everyone I love them and I am praying for them". Thanks Dad, we love you! As read by Ed Lydon on behave of the Lydon children.
