My sincere condolences to Gail and the family...your husband touched so many lives in a most positive way...mine included.

Joe was an outstanding leader. I appreciated his trusted guidance and valued his friendship at Prudential. He embodied the motto of the Marine Corps, Semper Fi - Always Faithful.

It was my honor to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. John in Marshalls Creek, Pa. from 2010-2015 where I got to know and greatly admire Joe, Gail and the Mahoney family. Joe had a great love for the Church. I could always get a good read on aspects of Church life through Joe, whose experience and faithfulness were tried and true. I loved the gruff Marine side of Joe too, including the raspy voice. Of course, you cannot talk about Joe without mentioning Gail. They were a dynamic duo. A powerhouse of prayer and fidelity. I came to know of Joe's death by reading an article in "First Things". I am truly saddened by his loss and promise my prayers, especially for Gail and his children and grandchildren.

We had some really good times a conference when Joe was President of Pru Preferred. I can't remember the year or the location, but I have a indelible memory of Joe and Gail both smoking cigars after one of the banquets.

He was the best President we ever had at Prudential

My favorite memory of Joseph was him sharing stories with his family, myself and my oldest son Gabe at his family's annual hunting retreat. The love and respect he had for the his family and his fellow man rang true as part of his essential character, even when relating his stories of his time in war. Truly a remarkable man. I'm honored to have known him, and thank him for his service to his faith, his family, his community, and our country. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

My sincere condolences to Gail on this terrible loss. I met Joe on only a few occasions but was able to know him through my husband´s many stories about the man with whom he was so impressed. I saw him briefly in November on a FaceTime call with Jack and , even after a number of years, Joe greeted me by name and shared a warm smile. He was a legend in our home for the tremendous work relationship he created for my husband . He was such an impressive and multifaceted man. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Joe Mahoney was the greatest man I ever met.

Joe Mahoney was a household name in our childhood home. Our dad (Bob Earl) had the privilege of learning from Joe in his professional life. Our dad LOVED and respected him. We always called him Mr. Mahoney but he felt like family.

When we lost our dad in 1997, Joe was amongst the first there and delivered a beautiful eulogy at his memorial service. His words are words that our family holds dear today.

Thank you to the Mahoney family for sharing him with the world. We are thankful to have been blessed by him.

I first met Joe in 1996 when I came to work with him at Prudential Preferred in New Jersey. He was a great leader and mentor who held us all to high standards. Most importantly, once you earned his trust and respect, his loyalty never wavered. With Joe, you had a friend for life.
Aside from being a good friend to many, Joe was also a great family man. Shortly after I began working with him, I had the opportunity to meet his wife Gail and many of his eight children. Joe loved his family deeply.
He was renowned for his keen intelligence --and, on a lighter note, impressive bouts of absent mindedness. He misplaced everything from his briefcase to his car keys, and on one occasion, even an entire car. His reading glasses were consistently lost or broken, or both.
In Joe's defense, I believe the reason he lost "things" was because he was always more focused on what was truly important: the people in his life -- family, friends and colleagues.
Rest in peace my friend.
