Joseph Michael Mario, 79, of Battle Creek passed away Friday, January 16, 2026.
Joseph was born June 9, 1946 to Joseph and Alberta (Bishop) Mario in Plainwell. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and worked as a telephone cable repairman. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, golf and especially loved ice fishing.
On July 19, 1969, he was united in marriage to Penny Snow; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Robert (Bonny) Mario, Timothy Mario, Andrea (Shay) Atkins, Joey (Amanda) Mario, Dorothy Mario; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson and a sister, Andrea Cassidy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his dog, Rocco.
Joseph’s family will receive friends for visitation Thursday, January 22 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Augusta Chapel, 307 N. Webster Street. A service to celebrate his life will be held there Friday, January 23 at 1:00 p.m. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
