Joseph Marozzi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cromwell Funeral Home on Sep. 26, 2025.
Joseph Samuel Marozzi, 83, of Cromwell, CT, passed away on September 24, 2025, with his beloved wife by his side.

Born on February 23, 1942, in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Alfred Joseph Marozzi and Rose Agatha Tulisano. Joseph grew up in Cromwell and attended trade school in Middletown, CT. He went on to work as a Test Operator for Jet Engines at Pratt & Whitney's Willgoos Lab in East Hartford, CT, where he dedicated 36 years of service.

Joseph retired at the age of 55 and was fortunate to enjoy 28 years of retirement. During that time, he remained active-constantly working around the house and on cars, never one to shy away from fixing things himself. A skilled mechanic, he did all his own auto repairs. He especially looked forward to the 4th of July, always eager to buy fireworks and light up the night sky.

In his younger years, Joseph was an avid bowler and participated in a local league. Even later in life, he kept the tradition alive by watching bowling on TV and was fascinated when his youngest child introduced him to bowling on the Wii.

He also had a passion for racing, having competed at the old Riverside Park Speedway, Waterford Speedbowl, and Stafford Motor Speedway. That love for racing continued throughout his life, as he rarely missed a NASCAR race on the weekends.

Joseph cherished time outdoors. He often took his family crabbing along the shoreline in Old Lyme, CT, turning "just one more hour" into a full day. Occasionally, he would bring a fishing pole and go bluefishing as well.

He also enjoyed deer hunting trips to Vermont with close friends, especially bow hunting, which he found both peaceful and rewarding.

Above all, Joseph loved life and watching his family grow. His greatest wish was to stay around as long as he could to see their lives evolve.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Noreen Marozzi (Griffin); his daughter JoAnn Marozzi and her partner Joe Maturano, and granddaughter Sara Maturano; his son Joseph A. Marozzi and grandsons Marc and Daniel Marozzi; and his daughter Emily Montenegro (Marozzi) and her husband Joseph Montenegro, along with their two sons, Ethan and Timothy Montenegro, who brought him immeasurable joy; and his brother, Fred Marozzi.

Joseph was predeceased by his brother Mark Marozzi, and his son Jesse Marozzi.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 29th, from 4 PM to 6 PM at Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell, CT 06416. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 30th, at 10 AM at St. John's Church, 5 St. John's Court, Cromwell, CT. A burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or a local dog rescue. Joseph loved dogs and consistently chose to adopt and support rescue dogs throughout his life. To the family of Joe,

We all knew him as Joe, a man who grew up on River Road surrounded by many of our good old "river rats." Later, he moved with his parents to the upstairs of his dad's barber shop. Joe and I carpooled to the P/W 3rd shift for years. He was also an usher at Lori's and my wedding. What a great character he was!

Joe, you will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing you and your family. Lori sends her love, and may you rest in peace, my childhood friend.

My deepest condolences on the loss of Mr. Marozzi. I had the opportunity to sit and talk with him during an all school reunion a few years back. It made me smile to know that his kids were doing great for at that time. I was on a mission to find his son Joey, who we spoke of fondly. It was nice to catch up with him. May he rest in peace. My deepest condolences sincerely Julie Chick Bouthot
