Commander Joseph F. Marrapodi (Ret.) passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at his home in

Commander Marrapodi, after graduating from Seton Hall University, was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy where he served for 21 years as a security officer in Japan, Cuba, Guam, and the United States. He also had the privilege of completing temporary assignments at U.S. Embassies in 29 countries throughout Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Upon retiring from the U.S. Navy in 1980, he went into private industry as a security consultant.

After retiring from private industry, he and his wife moved to Rehoboth Beach where he volunteered on several boards: Cape Henlopen Food Basket managing their fund-raising effort and acting as President and Vice-President of his homeowners' association. He was an avid golfer, an ace at crossword puzzles, and loved being at the beach searching for seashells on the jetty.
Joe's adventurous spirit, innovated outlook, and decisive demeanor will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Services will be held at a later date.
