Joseph J. Mazzeo, known by many as Jerry, 73, of North Providence, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with his illness.
He was the beloved husband of Debra A. (Landolfi) Mazzeo, with whom he shared 21 devoted years of marriage. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Frank and Alice (Foeri) Mazzeo.
Joseph worked for many years as a skilled welder at the Brayton Point Power Station in Somerset and the Manchester Street Power Generating Station in Providence before retiring. He enjoyed playing golf and a good game of cards. In the kitchen, he found joy in cooking for others, especially family gatherings where he was often found behind the stove preparing one of his signature dishes.
A true family man, Joseph was a loving husband, a proud father, a devoted grandfather, and a caring brother. He leaves behind his children, Derek Mazzeo and Deirdre Mazzeo Veveiros; his stepchildren, Anthony Argenti, Louie Argenti, and Lisa Picillo and her husband Chris; and his adored grandchildren, Angelina Paolino, Kenidee Mazzeo, and Remy Mazzeo. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy Whewell and her husband Paul, Monica Mazzeo, Nance Pomfret, Patricia Melville, Andrea Mazzeo and her wife Aleks, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Joseph was predeceased by his son-in-law, Mitch Veveiros, his brother, Frank “Butchie” Mazzeo, Jr, and also his nephew John Mazzeo.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. at Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence.
