Joe was one of the first people I met when I started doing theater in 1990..Grease Applehill Playhouse. He was so kind and encouraging..made this then nervous girl feel at ease.

Joe was a friend to anyone he met. His very large laugh was spontaneous and infectious. His best friend were the thousands of audience members who were thrilled by his voice and depth of character in any role lucky enough to have him fill it.
I do not know how many shows Joe did at CCAC South Campus Theatre, but my 2 favorites are Little Shop of Horrors and The Fantastiks. Joe was the offstage voice of Audrey 2, the cannibal plant. Jerry Olsavsky, a great Steeler Linebacker was in the puppet. He and Joe rehearsed and created an amazing ballet of voice and movement that was so real. A perfect balance..."Feed me, Seymour, feed me all night loooong!" "THAT'S RIGHT, BOY! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!" My second favorite was The Fantastiks. He was the mysterious El Gallo and led the troupe through the romance of The Boy and The Girl. The show was a blend of faculty, students and local pros. Joe was a hit...all the time.
My deep sympathy to his family, theatre family and students. God bless his memory and may he rest in peace. George Jaber

I knew Joe from his time helping with the St. Joseph HS plays. I was praying for him during this illness. My prayers and sympathy to his mother and family.
