Joseph Morello Obituary

Published by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Funeral Home on Jan. 22, 2021.
Joseph M. Morello passed away peacefully on January 22, 2021. Born on April 10, 1945 in Norristown, Joe was the beloved son to the late Joseph J. Morello and Marie (nee Diliberto). Upon graduating Bishop Kenrick High School in 1963, Joe went on to marry the love of his life and best friend Julie (nee Bowe). Together they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. Joe was the cherished father to Michelle Altieri (Bob) and Joseph J. Morello, devoted grandfather to Bobby, Samantha, and Jake, brother to Marie Lewis-Rader (David) and Joan Barainyak (John), and dear friend to many. He will be missed by all who loved him. Joe was a hard worker, devoting 38 years as a foreman at the American Water Company. He excelled in his trade, but he truly shined while on the field or court. Joe was a distinguished athlete excelling in basketball, baseball and football through high school. After graduation, his sports career continued. Joe coached with the Del Val Organization in the AAU, defeating the Peoples Republic of China at Eisenhower Field in 1984. He was inducted in the Norristown Hall of Fame for his performance in Slow Pitch Softball. In his later years, Joe loved playing bocce, bowling, golf and darts. Aside from natural talent, what made Joe such a phenomenal player was his true love and knowledge of the game. This also helped him excel as a coach. Joe never missed a game whether he was coaching his kids or grandchildren or just watching them play. You could always count on his support and his commentary from the sidelines! Joe's greatest joy of all was his family. He had a fierce loyalty to his family which knew no boundaries. His love and commitment to them will live on in their hearts forever. Relatives and friends are invited to Joe's Life Celebration on Thursday January 28, 2021 from 9 am to 11 with a service to immediately follow at 11 am at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike. Interment will be private. Words cannot express the shock of hearing about Joe's passing. One can only guess how many people he touched with his coaching skills, humor and love of family first. He coached our son with the West Norriton Raiders, and he coached me at my attempt to bowl at Facenda. He always had a story to tell and could make your day with his laughter. Our deepest and sincere condolences to his wife and family. We will keep him and his family in our prayers.

Unbelievable guy. Welcomed me into the Bowling leagues 5 or 6 years ago, stories of basketball in the Catholic League and since my older brother played for Bishop McDevitt at the same time was a delight to listen to.he talked alot about family and was the best Lead Off Bowler on our team. ( small chuckle here ) R.I.P. my friend. Glad to have come in contact with your world these last 6 years.

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of my cousin Joe Morello (his father and I were first cousins). Being a year older and having known him since childhood, anytime our paths would cross I always enjoyed our spirited verbal exchanges spiced with his earthy observations, especially when it came to the subject of Penn State football (we were both avid fans). Even though I it's been awhile since I've seen or talked to Joe I still feel a great loss. I offer your family my sincere condolences.

I will miss his sincerity and smile. surely Joe will be missed by me and my teammates Charles Corley and Kenny Rogers in the Ridge American Seniors Bowling League.
