Mr. Joseph Oscar Needham, Jr., 78, resident of Archdale, died July 26, 2025, at Abbott's Creek Center in Lexington.

He was born January 30, 1947, in Forsyth County, a son to Joseph "Pete" Needham, Sr. and Capitola Belton Needham. Later his family lived in Pilot Mountain, where he remained throughout his youth, until attending and graduating from High Point College. He joined State Farm Insurance where he spent over 35 years as an agent to many in the community. Mr. Needham was also a Black Belt and Master at TaeKwonDo and Hapkido. He was a cofounder and a lead instructor of Clemmons Family Martial Arts. He also was a 50-year member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. In retirement, he loved walking his dogs in the park every day, and especially, spending time with his family.

In 1971, he married the former Judith "Judy" Hellard, who survives of the residence. Also surviving is his daughter, Karen Needham and wife Darinlee; son, David Needham and wife Kristy; two grandchildren, Angelina and Jacob; two beloved rescue dogs, Toby and Dolly; and his cat (whom he rescued from the street), Miss Kitty.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, in the sanctuary at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church with Dr. Ken Lyon and Rev. Glenn Myers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Asbury Room at the church. Memorials may be directed to Wesley Memorial Methodist Church at 1225 Chestnut Dr. High Point, NC 27262 or to Ruff Love Animal Rescue at P.O. Box 2013, Thomasville, NC 27361.
