Joseph James Nestor, a compassionate and reliable pillar of the Ridgeley, West Virginia community, passed away on May 18, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on January 5, 1943, in Cumberland, MD, Jim was known for his strong integrity and generous heart. As an honorable man, he placed his faith, family, and friends above all else, making a significant impact on everyone he met with his vivacious personality and larger than life attitude.
Jim served in the Army as a helicopter mechanic and medic before joining the Army Reserves as military police. He was a Vietnam Veteran. He spent 23 dedicated years in department 41 as a scoop operator at the Kelly Springfield Tire Company until its closure in 1986. Following this, Jim worked on building the scenic railroad tracks and served as a courier for First United National Bank. He was a Legacy Life Member of the Ridgeley VFW, and lifelong member of the Ridgeley Legion, Good Fellowship Club, Cumberland Outdoor Club, and was a founding member of Our Place Hunt Club with six other longtime friends. Joseph always found time for his hobbies. He loved hunting and fishing, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and relaxing with his loving wife on their front porch. His love for God and his country was always at the forefront of his decisions.
Jim leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia (Raygor) Nestor. His son Jimmy and wife Michelle Nestor. Their children Colby Nestor and Courtney Elliott married to Zach. His cherished great-grandchildren Lyam, Anson, Stetson and (Teagan) Baby Ann. His son Kenny and wife Linda, and their children Jessica Bittinger, Jay Nestor and Erick Nestor. Jessica's spouse Travis Bittinger and grandson Austin. Jay's spouse Sierra, and their children Jaidyn, Rylee, and Bowen. His daughter Joeli with spouse Todd Olson and their children Ethan and Ava Olson. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Evelyn Nestor. He is survived by his sisters Janet and spouse Eddie Riley, Peg and spouse Jerry Bittner, and Sandy and Bill Seeders. Joseph's life was a testament to his deep faith and the love he held for his family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him for his loving demeanor and his commitment to his community.

Friends and family are invited to join his Celebration of Life scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 12th, 2025 at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeley, WV. Please arrive by 1pm for the start of the ceremony.
