Joseph Ochs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brunswick Funeral Service - Shallotte on Sep. 19, 2025.
Joseph Raymond "Joe" Ochs, age 76 of Shallotte, NC, passed away peacefully in the early hours of June 8, 2025, while surrounded by his family. He was an adoring husband to his wife Margaret for forty-nine years, a loving father of two, and a grandpa to his "four boys", which he took the most pride in.

Joe was a proud US Army Veteran and served during the Vietnam War.

Joe was born December 1, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, to Joseph Ochs and Eileen Finn Ochs. He spent his childhood and most of his adult life there until relocating to Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, where his wife opened and owned the original well-known "Joey O's Pizzeria." He was their #1 customer.

He spent his days eating some of the best pizza made by his family, spent hours on the "Grady White" fishing with his boys, and nights surrounded by his loving wife and family on his lake watching the most beautiful sunsets. He never missed a baseball or lacrosse game, always took care of those around him, and always found something to do or something to fix or improve. He always dreamt big, and pushed those around him to do the same hence his famous saying "How bad do you want it?"

As a husband, father, grandpa, uncle, brother, and friend, Joe was generous, loving, and kind. He never allowed a day to pass without reminding his family of how much he loved them. Those blessed to know him knew he was as selfless as they come, always giving his time and wisdom to others, an inspiration to all those who knew him.

He loved his family and was a friend to all he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his family.

Joe was preceded in death by the love of his life Margaret Ochs and his parents Joseph and Eileen Ochs.

He is survived by his son: Joe Ochs, Jr. (Jenny); daughter: Tara Noll of Shallotte, NC; grandchildren: Gregory (Brianna) Noll, Brian Noll, Joey Ochs (Abbi), and John Ochs. Brothers and a sister of New York.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 7, 2025 from 5-7PM at Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte Chapel.

"And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you." John 16:22 KJV
