The family of Joseph E. Reinboldt, 62, of Viewtown, Virginia is deeply saddened to share his sudden passing on Wednesday, April, 23, 2025 in Ashburn, Virginia. Joe was born August 2, 1962 to the late John Elrie Reinboldt and Marie Reinboldt (Barbera) in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, where his family was stationed serving in the United States Coast Guard.
As a young child, he roamed somewhat wild on the Coast Guard base on Governors Island, NY, where he fished from the seawall and took the ferry into Manhattan unaccompanied to get a good hot dog or slice of pizza. He had fond memories of boating and camping trips with his Father and brothers on Long Island Sound and it set a lifelong love of water that would guide his search for the really "good water". He was happiest on the waters of the Lower Chesapeake Bay, and enjoyed sharing his love for the outdoors with his children, sometimes taking them to places actually named Mosquito Island on the lower Rappahannock River and Sharktooth Island on the lower Potomac River.
Joseph was a proud 30-year member of Steamfitters Local 602, where he worked as a Journeyman HVAC Mechanic with Boland Trane. After retiring from the union, he embarked on a second career with Digital Realty in Ashburn as a Manager of Facilities Engineering for the growing data center field. He endeavored to create strong bonds of friendship with his Digital Realty team and the various skilled mechanics and union members who maintained the vast array of equipment at his location.
Rural Rappahannock County was his home since 1987, and he never tired of the dark skies, bright stars, and quiet nights spent there. Joe was a practicing Catholic and parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Washington, Virginia and a member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Maurice du Castillon Council.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Kathryn Ann Reinboldt; their sons, Aidan Demolli and Joseph Lee Reinboldt; three daughters, Virginia Marie Bolan (Levi), Anne Bernadette Reinboldt, and Mary Elizabeth Reinboldt; his daughter in law to be wed to Aidan, Alison Miserendino; three brothers, John Reinboldt (Dana), Ray Reinboldt (Jan), and Bill Reinboldt (Kathleen); a beloved grandchild; his uncle, Joseph Barbera, many nieces, nephews and cousins and their families. He leaves behind a special devoted companion, Lily, his faithful Border Collie.
The family received friends Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm for a time of visitation at St. Peter Catholic Church, 12762 Lee Highway, Washington, Virginia. The recitation of the Holy Rosary was at 4:30 pm.
