It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph W. Richards Jr., who left us on November 2, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on April 16, 1967, Joe was a free spirit who truly lived life on his own terms. He was a familiar face in the Marion, IN community, where he made a lasting impression through his passions and hobbies. He attended Mississinewa Schools.
Joe had a love for playing pool that was matched only by his skill in the game. He brought home plenty of awards, but it was the fun and camaraderie he found in every game that truly mattered to him. His enthusiasm didn't stop there-Joe was also an avid antiquing and scrapping enthusiast, always on the hunt for hidden treasures and unique finds that filled his life with joy.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Stevens, Marion; sister, Faye (Ralph) Shipley, Gas City; brothers, Richard Smith, Marion; and Bob Smith, Westfield; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Johnnie Walter and Buddy Bochover.
Joe was preceded in death by his father Joseph W. Richards, Sr.; brother, Philip Richards; grandparents, Edward and Rosa Shanks, and Fay and Hazal Richards.
Arrangements for Joe were entrusted to the Mississinewa Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana 46933. There will be a graveside service held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1:30 P.M., at Riverside Cemetery in Gas City.
