Joseph Rynarzewski Obituary

Published by R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc. - Newark on Jun. 4, 2017.
Joe Rynarzewski of Newark, DE, age 84, died June 4, 2017. He was born, the youngest of six siblings in Baltimore, MD, to the late Andrew Rynarzewski and Mary (Gacek) Rynarzewski. After High School, he served in the U.S. Navy on the Destroyer Meredith. He was honorably discharged in 1954. In 1955 he met the love of his life, Laura Catherine Mooney and they were married in 1957. That same year they moved to Delaware and raised three daughters. Bit by a travel bug, Joe and Laura, whether in tents or trailers made sure their daughters saw much of the United States. Later, Joe and Laura would see the world. They traveled together to Italy, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Mexico, Taiwan and most of the Virgin Islands. At age 65, Joe became the oldest student of his instructors to earn his SCUBA diving certification. He also earned his ski instructor certification. His other hobbies were gardening, hiking, astronomy, making delicious pound cake and spoiling his children and grandchildren. Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Laura Rynarzewski; daughter, Donna Arthurs and her husband Bill; daughter, Karen Rynarzewski; sister, Gertrude Kolakowski; grandson, Brian Arthurs; granddaughter, Lauren Arthurs; and granddaughter, Kimberly Mirra. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Bernard Rynarzewski; brother, Anthony Rynarzewski; brother, Edward Ryan; sister, Dorothy Komenda; and daughter Debra Rynarzewski. The visitation for Joe will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc. 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. Family and friends are called to visit starting at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to "VFW Post 475", Newark, DE. Send in care of R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc.

Joe was one of the nicest men I ever had the pleasure to know. I can't remember him ever saying an unkind word about anyone. He will never be forgotten, and we will both miss him.

I am going to miss Mr. Joe. Yes this is what I called him since I was little. Laura was Miss Laura to me and Joe was Mr. Joe. So many memories.... I am so glad my mom had such great friends. They were our family. I am sad that he is gone and my prayers go out to the entire family. He was the best dad and grandfather you could ask for. May he rest in peace. He surely will be missed by all. I love you Joe.

So sorry, Laura, Kate, Donna and families. What a shock. Joe was a great guy and phenomenal host. He will be missed. If I can help in any way, with a song or whatever, please let me know.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Joe. My heart goes out to Laura, Donna and Karen. It had too many years since we had last visited but I still have wonderful memories of our visits and card games.
