Joseph "Peachie" Sanchez entered eternal life on May 13, 2024. Joe was born October 3, 1945 in San Antonio, TX to Tony D. and Minnie Marichalar Sanchez. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son and friend.
Joe graduated from South San Antonio High School in 1964 as a 2-time state baseball champion. He was a United States Air Force veteran, and retired from Kelly Air Force Base in 1998.
He enjoyed traveling and loved his friends and family. He lived his life in service of others. Joe was an electrician, plumber, and carpenter who never hesitated to help anyone in need. He was passionate, intelligent, and had a great sense of humor. He loved telling jokes and stories at family gatherings. In his leisure time he enjoyed doing the daily crossword puzzle in the newspaper, reading and teaching others about Texas history, and watching Jeopardy and PBS.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers David (Brother) Sanchez, Larry Sanchez, Sr., and sisters, Antonia Sanchez and Gloria Lopez.
He is survived by his wife of over 51 years Carmen Sanchez, sons Ricardo and Joseph Sergio (Karla) Sanchez, daughter Mari Bitela, grandchildren Donovan Jordan Walker-Sanchez, Sofia Isabel Bitela, Emma Lourdes Bitela, Galilea Hope Sanchez and Joseph Sergio Sanchez,Jr.
Visitation will begin at 6 PM followed by a rosary at 7 PM on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 535 New Laredo Highway. Mass of Resurrection will begin at 10 AM on Monday, May 20, 2024 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 535 New Laredo Highway. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery III, 1735 Cupples Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a monetary donation in his name to the church he loved and served, St. Joseph's Catholic Church South San.
In lieu of flowers please "Text the word Sanchez to 210-796-2305 to donate to St. Joseph South San."

My son Gil Alvarez played with coach Sanchez son Sergio for st Joseph Falcons. Coach Sanchez was great with the kids. I will always remember the practice and games of basketball and baseball. Rest in peace Coach Sanchez.

My heart breaks for Joe's family. He always had a smile on his face and made everyone around him feel at ease. He was a great man and will be missed by many.
