Joseph E. Schneider, age 85, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at his home in Tilden.
Joe was born on February 10, 1939 in Chippewa Falls, to William and Clara (Libersky) Schneider. He attended Tilden Grade School and some high school at McDonell Catholic Schools.
He worked for Baudette’s on the Farm in Eagle Point, Klinger’s Farm Market skinning mink, Zutter’s Feed Mill in Eagleton, the AMC plant in Kenosha building cars, Tilden Creamery, and Brown-Wilbert Vault Company in Chippewa Falls for over 30 years. On August 20, 1999, Joe married Margaret “Toots” (Prince) Zwiefelhofer in Chippewa Falls.
Joe enjoyed working on the farm, fishing, gardening, tipping back a cold beer at Earl’s Tavern, collecting anything John Deere, watching the Green Bay Packers, cruising around on his four-wheeler, manicuring his yard, and tinkering for hours in his garage while listening to a Brewer game.
Joe is survived by his wife: Margaret “Toots” Schneider of Bloomer; children: Darrell (Teri) Schneider of Chippewa Falls, Tony (Linda) Schneider of Chippewa Falls, Rhonda (Bruce) Edington of Chippewa Falls and Renee (Roger) Rothbauer of Bloomer; step-children: Jared (Sheryl) Zwiefelhofer of Bloomer and Jean Medina (Jo-Anne Dominick) of North Bend, WA; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren plus one more on the way; siblings: Norman (Eileen), William (Ann), Robert (Judy), Patricia (Joe) Michels, Richard (Donna) and Judith (Jim) Moe; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Clara Schneider; children: Dale Schneider and Laurie Humbert; infant step-son: Glen Zwiefelhofer; and siblings: Corrine Schneider and John Schneider.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the White Pine Pavilion, 9832 County Hwy SS in Bloomer. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday at the White Pine Pavilion. Burial will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Tilden at a later date.
