Joseph A. Schutz, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at the age of 87.
He was born March 19, 1938 in Chicago, the son of the late Adam and Adeline (Gallo) Schutz.
A dedicated car enthusiast and skilled restorer, Joe was a longtime member of the Model A Restorers Club and CAATS - Centerville Antique Auto Touring Society. Always bringing a strong work ethic to whatever he did, Joe worked in the printing industry as a lithographer where he created many different printed works; and for a brief time, he proudly served in the Army National Guard. Joe will be remembered for his warm sense of humor, and his love for making others smile. Above all, he cherished his family, who meant everything to him.
Joe is survived by his children, Diane (Bob) Bradbury, Ken (Loretta) Schutz, and Mike (Diane) Schutz; his grandchildren, Steve, Dan, Alysse, and Glen; and his great-grandchildren, Raelee, Ella, Jake, Grant, Tom, Brook, Hayden, Heather, Rose, and Iris.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosemary; and sister, Maria White.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 3-7 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. the following day, Friday, December 19, with visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by procession to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, for the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be held privately for his family.
