Joe and I met while we were in the Army at Kagnew Station, Asmara, Eritrea when it was still part of Ethiopia. We were roommates there and when he got out of the Army, we split an apartment while attending USC. He was the best male roommates I ever had, fastidious about keeping the place clean and we always paid the rent on time.
We shared Native American ancestors and often joked that we were cousins. Sometimes people believed us.
In later years we played poker together before I finally left the Midlands for the coast.
We've kept in touch sporadically ever since and when I found out he was in Hospice Care, it floored me. He's only 20 days older than me! Once he explained his condition, I realized he hade made a wise and brave decision.
I will miss him.

The passing of Jospeh Scott for me marks somewhat the passing of the good times I had visiting with him, my cousin Darryl Earley, Bill Terrell and Listervelt Middleton while they were at ETV. Those were really good days. Joe was always fund to be around and in a lot of ways, he was the essence of that entire crew. He will be missed.
