Joseph Sincavage, 86, a resident of Swoyersville, passed peacefully into eternal life Tuesday evening, Sept. 12, 2023, at Highland Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Exeter, where he was a guest since July of 2020.
Born Dec. 18, 1936, in Swoyersville, Joseph was one of five children born to the late William Sincavage and Stella Dziekan Sincavage.
Residing in Swoyersville most of his life, Joe attended the former Swoyersville High School.
Prior to his retirement, Joe was employed as a mason for Neal-Lynn Inc., Luzerne. In his earlier years, he worked as a laborer on the farm of Fred Wright, formerly located in Forty Fort.
Joe was a lifelong member of the former St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville, and, following the consolidation of his church, he became a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Well known for his love of vegetable gardening, Joe would start all his plants from seed and plant almost the entirety of his yard. Every year he would reap a bountiful harvest, always making sure to share that harvest with his family, friends and neighbors.
A kind, caring and selfless man, Joe freely gave of himself without ever asking for anything in return. As his mother was aging, he lovingly cared for her and ensured that her golden years were spent at home surrounded by the love of family. Joe was not only a devoted son, he was also a loving and supportive brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. Although his presence will be greatly missed, there is joy in knowing he is now happily reunited in heaven with his parents, his brother, sisters and all his loved ones who were awaiting his arrival there.
In addition to his parents, William and Stella, Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Sincavage; and sisters, Barbara Crake and Alice Brek.
Joseph in survived by his brother, William "Bart" Sincavage Jr., Swoyersville; brother-in-law, Daniel Brek Sr., Swoyersville; sister-in-law, Barbara Sincavage, Exeter; and generations of nieces and nephews.
Joe's family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Highland Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their years of wonderful care. They wish to also extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff from Compassionate Care Hospice, especially the Rev. Dennis Gray, for all they did to ensure that Joe's final days were peaceful.
In keeping with Joe's wishes, a private family viewing and funeral service will be held Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, with the Rev. John J. Chmil, his pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
The Sincavage family has entrusted the funeral arrangements for Joe to the care of Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.

Rest in peace, Ozzie. It has been at least 55 years since we fished together. I can still remember the grin on your face when you landed a husky walleye that evening. I spent a lot of time with you on the farm and in the greenhouses when I was a kid. Your wit, wisdom and kindness has been and always will be remembered.
