We are one of the original families that moved to Leslie Lane in 1985. We were all blessed with great neighbors that we got to know well, including Joe and Trudy. We will always remember our one sons homecoming after a very long hospital stay where Joe spelled out in Big Lights on his lawn a big "Welcome Home" to our son He will be missed by all on Leslie Lane.

I´m sorry to hear of Joe´s passing. I met Joe in September of 1961 when we joined cub scouts at St Lukes. We were very close through grammar school until Joe went to a McDevitt and I went to Abington. We still saw each other but not as frequently then He went to La Salle and I went to PSU then moved to NH and we became more distant. I last saw Joe at our 25th grammar school reunion at the K of C.

His parents were both wonderful people and were active in scouting and once
Joe moved on to Boy Scouts they did. I remember sitting in their kitchen explaining our meal plans to Mary for an upcoming camping trip. You have to give her credit she didn´t blink at the upcoming disaster. Sunday breakfast was spectacular we were going to have pancakes with bacon in it. We didn´t give a thought that bacon and pancakes cook at different times and different temperatures but what the heck we were Boy Scouts and knew everything. Joe Sr. Who was our assistant scout master stopped us before we ate it and scrounged food from the rest of the troop so we wouldn´t go hungry. After that Mary planned the meals, cooked them in advance and froze them in half gallon milk cartons to reheat on the trip.
One December we snuck into Willow Grove park to climb the alps from the inside and ended up falling through the ice on the swan pond. We were able to self rescue ourselves and made our way into the bowling alley and dried our clothes with the electric hand dryers in the men´s room. All of the hand dryers. We were quite the sight and earned a number of dirty looks from bowlers as we dried long underwear with the hand dryers.
Joe was a good scout who lived the scout law. He was trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, brave, clean and revered. What more could you want from a friend?

I am so very sorry to hear of Joe's recent passing.  I have such good memories of your family as my neighbors in Ocean City and of boat rides with Joe and all the neighbors sitting outside enjoying our beautiful bay.  It was clear he adored his kids and loved spending time with them and his lovely wife, Trudy.  I can still see you all, rounding the breezeway corner off to a favorite dining spot for the evening.   May God comfort you and bring you nothing but wonderful memories of such a good man.
