Joseph Springfield, Sr., age 72 passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.  Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 1:00 PM at St. James Church of God in Christ in Stanton, TN, with Pastor James Gray officiating.  Burial will follow at the St. James Church of God in Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 PM at the St. James Church of God in Christ. 

Joseph Springfield, Sr. was born on April 17, 1951, in Stanton, TN in Haywood County. He worked as a farmer.  He loved the outdoors and loved providing for his family. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. 

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Harwell-Springfield; four sons, Joseph Springfield, Jr., Kentral Springfield, Jarvis Springfield, Todd Springfield; five daughters, Shelia Watkins, Pheneice Williams, Monica Springfield, Felicia Jeter, Marquita Pugh; two brothers, Lawrence Ervin Springfield, Larie Springfield, four sisters, Shirley Williamson, Christine Bell, Annette Taylor, Beverly McFarland.  He leaves behind 51 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Springfield, Sr. and Zadie Davis Springfield; one son, Marcus Coleman; four brothers, William Springfield, Jr., Willie Springfield, Mark Wayne Springfield, James Howard Springfield; five sisters, Elnora Williams, Vernita Tisdale, Mary Ann McFarland, Juanita Pruitt, and Carolyn Bell. 

Pallbearers for the service will be Michael Harris, Travis Pugh, Jr., Jarvis Springfield, Jr., Dallas Springfield, Jarvale Comage and Devin Howard. 

 All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
