Joseph Stanek Obituary

Published by Colonial Funeral Home & Crematory on Mar. 22, 2021.
Joseph "Pat" Stanek passed peacefully in his home on March 22, 2021 from a short battle with a glioblastoma. He was born as the firecracker baby to Joseph and Marilyn Stanek on July 3, 1957. He was the second of 6 Stanek children. His impact began early. He was knighted as Courtesy King in first grade, a reign he held throughout his life. He could be found at the neighborhood ballpark or on stage with the band. He graduated from McHenry High School in 1975 and went on to attend Northern Illinois University where he first laid eyes on Denise. They fell fast in love and became inseparable ever since. Together, they made their dreams come true and created a family. He was blessed with 3 children, Ashley (Rory Letteney), Cameren, and Patrick. They were as devoted to him as he was to being their father. He played an active role with pride in all of their lives, no matter the circumstances. He was quick to laugh. His humor further developed as he collected stories and jokes as a long time UPS driver, making countless friendships along the way. He enjoyed his mornings with dear friends he made at coffee klatch. All his efforts went to building a strong foundation of love and support for the ones he cared for. He embraced every role he was given, especially father of the bride and welcomed his son-in-law, Rory, to the family. He served as the honorary "Dad of the neighborhood". Family was his top priority and we know that will continue with our new guardian angel. He was survived by his wife Denise, 3 children Ashley (Rory), Cameren, and Patrick, parents, Joseph and Marilyn, 5 siblings Steve (Kris), Kenny, Paul, Cindy (Kurt), Lisa (Gary), in-laws Ken (Judy), Terry (Barb), Allen (Jeanne), Kathy, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Chester and Jane Ptak Visitation will take place on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 4pm to 8pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry IL. Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 10am to 11am at Church of Holy Apostles 5211 W. Bull Valley Rd, McHenry IL, followed by Funeral Mass at 11am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be directed to the Family, where charity of their choice will be determined at a later time.

Dear Denise and family, I worked with Pat at Ups and enjoyed his humor and stories. I'm sorry my health didn't allow me to go to his wake. I introduced myself to Pat on his second or third day at Ups, he said are you one of the old timers? I said I was guilty as charged and he said personnel people told him not to talk to the old timers. I said they don't want you talking to us, because we would tell you the truth about working at Ups. Already he knew what I was referring to, fast learner. My best to your family, God bless, any questions give me a call. 815-385-0819

So many happy memories were brought as additions to our family get togethers by myself and all. His unselfish ways were never absent no matter what the circumstances. We all can take a page out of his book and model ourselves from him. Thank you Denise for choosing wisely! Our memories are imbedded in love for this great man. Now you have an angel whose name you know!! He just changed his address to Heaven!
