In Loving Memory of Joseph F. Sullivan
A Life Well-Lived, A Legacy Cherished
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph “Joe” F. Sullivan, age 66—a beloved husband, father, son, brother and grandfather. Joe was widely recognized for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones. He departed this world after bravely battling bladder cancer, having previously overcome the disease, surrounded by family and friends who cherished him dearly. Born in Saginaw, Michigan, on October 4, 1959, to Emerson and Sally Sullivan (Balderrama), Joe was nurtured from the start by the love and guidance of his devoted parents, laying the foundation for a remarkable life.
Family was Joe's greatest joy. He was a loving and dedicated husband, a proud father, a cherished son, and a doting "papa." Joe married Donna (Marek) on August 10, 2000. He is survived by his siblings: Dwayne “Nick” Sullivan and Terry (Renee) Sullivan; and by his children: Autumn (Josh) Marshall, Kayla (Mike) Allen, Grant (Chelsea) Kleinert, and Kara (Kyle) Guster. Joe was a proud papa to Brandon and Carsyn Marshall, Grace and Isla Allen, Emersyn Guster, and Grayson Kleinert. He was predeceased by his father Emerson Sullivan and his mother Sally Sullivan, brother Emerson “Butch” Sullivan and daughter Holly Sullivan.
For 38 years, Joe worked at Covenant Healthcare in Information Technologies. His expertise and dedication touched countless lives, and colleagues admired his work ethic, humility, and generous spirit. He was more than a coworker—he was a mentor and friend, always ready to lend a hand or listen with compassion.
Joe was an enthusiastic Michigan State Athletics fan, faithfully following his favorite teams and sharing the excitement with family and friends. Yet, nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandsons play hockey, celebrating their achievements, and nurturing their passion for the game. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed working on his treasured 1969 Camaro—a labor of love that showcased his attention to detail and appreciation for classic craftsmanship. Golfing with family was another cherished pastime, where he created memories as enduring as the fairways he walked.
Joe was well-loved and widely known—a man whose generosity, humor, and kindness left a lasting mark. He brought people together, inspired those around him, and brightened every day with his welcoming smile. His impact extended far beyond his immediate family, reaching into the community and touching all who knew him.
A memorial service honoring Joseph “Joe” F. Sullivan will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. All who loved him are welcome to gather, remember, and celebrate his extraordinary life.
