Joseph Szekeres

Joseph Szekeres, age 81, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025 peacefully in his sleep. He was born on August 28, 1943 in Hungary to Rozalia Szekeres. Joseph grew up in Bonyhad, Hungary and immigrated to the USA in 1969. In 1971, Joseph married Elizabeth (nee Pastor), and together they spent 53 years of marriage together. Joseph will be remembered for his dedication to his family, hard work ethic, and his commitment to the Hungarian community - both in the Cleveland area and in Hungary. Joseph is survived by his wife Elizabeth Szekeres. Beloved father of Agnes (James) Gallagher and Daniel (Tina) Szekeres, and many beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and two sisters; Anna Lorencz and Rozsi Mohács. A memorial service be held on Saturday July 5th at 11:00 am at Westside Hungarian Reformed Church, located at 15300 Puritas Ave, Cleveland, OH 44135. The service will be public with refreshments immediately after. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friendship APL in Joseph's memory. "Mustache Joe" will forever be in our hearts.
