Joseph Tocco Obituary

Published by Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. - Sterling Heights on May 4, 2014.
TOCCO, Joseph P. Age 92. May 4, 2014. Awesome and admired husband of Rose Marie "Roady" for 59 incredible years. Devoted father of Rose, Vince (Kathy), Andrea (Dave), Cindy, Mary Jo, Joe (Esther), Paul and the late Joann. Honored and loving Papa of Angela (Mike), Lisa, VJ, Kevin, Joey, Selena and Paul. Cherished brother of Eleanor, Frances, Msgr. Anthony and James. Joe is safely home with his parents, Vincent and Rose, along with his brothers and sisters who went before him; Francis, Paul (his identical twin), Dorothy, John, Sam, Rosemary, Phil and Bill. Joe served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in May of 1946. He then applied for the GI Bill and attended the University of Detroit and received his Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 30 years as a Chemical Engineer until his retirement in 1980. After a short retirement, he went back to work for Argonaut Engineering. Shortly after, he was offered an Estimator position at GM. His new position caused him to live in St. Louis, Missouri and later in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Although living so far away from his family was difficult, he did what he had to do to support his family. Later, GM transferred him back to Michigan for the building of the Poletown Cadillac Plant. He retired for a second time at 70 years old, and some years later became the President of Produce at Jamboozies when he was not vacationing with Roady down in Florida for the winter. A man of many talents, his true passions were his family, his garden, buying and selling Ford stock and his incredible chopping and dicing skills. He did make the best spedini on the planet. He also embraced today's technology and wanted to learn everything about cellphones, computers and tablets. His last known email address was [email protected]. He loved watching baseball, gameshows and Dancing with the Stars. He was a true master of his remote control and the $10 football wager. Although age and time tried it's best to stop him, he continued to preserve for 92 years. Visitation Saturday 5-9pm & Sunday 1-9pm with a 7pm Scripture Service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons Inc., 36900 Schoenherr Rd at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Instate Monday 10am until time of 11am Mass at St. Hugo of the Hills Church 22155 Opdyke (E. of Woodward). Interment, Great Lakes National Cemetery.
