Joseph R. Tufano, Sr., a devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, and loyal brother, passed away peacefully on September 25th, surrounded by the love of his family.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday Oct 1st from 6-8pm at Heritage Funeral Home, Ballantyne Chapel. Mr. Tufano's Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Oct 2nd at 10am at St. Matthew Catholic Church Chapel with Father Binoy Davis Celebrant. His graveside, with full military honors, will be held at 2pm at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.
Born to the late Joseph N. and Filomena Tufano, Joseph grew up with strong family values that shaped the man he became. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, carrying with him a sense of duty, honor, and integrity that guided him throughout his life. After his service, he built a long and respected career as a Controller with Parker Hannifin Corporation, where his dedication and work ethic earned the admiration of colleagues and friends.
Joseph was the beloved husband of Theresa H. Tufano, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He was the devoted father of Christine DiGiso, Celeste Caleca, Jodi L. Suskevich, and Joseph R. Tufano, Jr., and he took great pride in the family they built together.
His greatest joy was being "Grandpa." He was the proud and loving grandfather to Jeffrey and Jessica DiGiso, Isabella L. and Ian J. Suskevich, Marshall R. and Beckham H. Tufano, and his newest joy, newborn Silas J. Tufano. His eyes would always light up when speaking of his grandchildren, each one holding a special place in his heart.
He is also survived by his dear sister, Emma Tufano, and brother, Anthony Tufano. He now joins his parents and infant brother Alex, in eternal rest, carrying forward the love of family that meant everything to him.
Joseph will be remembered not only for his devotion and quiet strength, but also for the love, laughter, and countless memories he gave to those blessed to know him. His legacy will live on in the family he so deeply cherished.
