I am so sorry to learn of Joey´s passing. He always made us laugh while in class at OLP. May God rest his soul. I know he was so loved by the love of his life, his wife Mitzi. Fondly, Francine Raggi-Collins

I met Joe through his wife, Mitzi. She and I used to commute together on a Staten Island bus to our jobs in Manhattan. During several discussions we spoke about our favorite restaurants. I told Mitzi my fraternity brother owned a place in Greenwich Village. She told me Joe's grammar school friend owned their favorite place and it too was in Greenwich Village. After several conversations she told me the name of the place was Zinno, and I remarked that was the same place I was talking about all this time. We both laughed and I made a reservation for that weekend. That was the first time my wife and I met Joe and a forty year friendship began at that dinner.
We have some great memories of Joe. There is a show called "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" on the Food Network. They did an episode on cheese dishes and my family always says the the best thing we ever ate with cheese was the pumpernickel bagel with bacon cheddar cream cheese from Bagels On The Square.
My daughter's wedding anniversary was a couple of days ago and we were reminiscing about some of our favorite moments. One of the things that came up was the comment Joe made when I asked him if he had a good time at the wedding and he responded: "You had to be dead not to have a good time at that wedding".
Joe certainly was one of a kind, and all the memories we made through the years will always bring a smile to our faces.
