Joseph Upshaw Obituary
Health Navicent in Macon, GA after complications following a stroke.
Joe was born on December 3, 1943 in Cairo, Illinois to the late Virgil and Cecile Upshaw. After Joe
graduated from Cairo High School in 1961, he went on to enlist in the United States Air Force. He was
stationed at Robins Air Force Base with the Strategic Air Command Police. He continued his love for law
enforcement by proudly serving with the Warner Robins Police Department where he later retired.
Joe was a member of the Warner Robins Church of Christ where he attended for almost fifty years.
Some of his favorite pastimes included building computers, hunting, flying drones, visiting with family
and friends and attending grandchildren's activities.
Joe is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 57 years Patricia Pitcher Upshaw, his daughter Angela
White of Belleville, IL, and son Bryan (Missi) Upshaw of Warner Robins, GA; his grandchildren Dylan
White, Ashlynn White, Sierra White, Mitchell Upshaw, and Alyssa Upshaw; his brothers Merlin (Alice)
Upshaw, and Jack (Patricia) Upshaw, sister-in-law Betty George, brother-in-law Steve Boaz, and
numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by brothers Johnny George, Carlos Upshaw,
Tom (Betty) Upshaw, Gene Upshaw, and sisters Louise McClelland and Rosalie Boaz.
Visitation will be held at Burpee Scott Memorial Chapel in Fort Valley, GA on Tuesday, May 23, 2023
from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A service celebrating his life will be held on May 24, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Burpee
Scott.
