Joseph J Uva

Joseph J. Uva, 92 of the Leisurewoods neighborhood of Rockland, died on May 28, 2011 at Quincy Hospital. He was born in Boston, son of the late Italian immigrants, Angelo and Nora (Schena) Uva and was raised and educated in the Hyde Park section of the city. Joseph was a machinist and had worked at the American Tool and Die Co. in Hyde Park and the DeLaval Seperator Co. in Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie, NY. He retired in 1978. Mr. Uva was a faithful communicant of Holy Family Parish and had a special devotion to praying the Rosary. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus in Hyde Park and was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed working in his yard and shopping at Trucchi's. Beloved husband of Thomasina (Flammia) Uva who predeceased him, he is survived by their children, Gerard F. Uva of Abington, Anthony J. Uva of Norton, Christine A. Juron of Warwick, NY and Kara A. Kinsella of Hanson. He was the brother of Helena Lawler of Foxboro and is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The Uva family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate his life on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND from 6:00-8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday June 1, 2011 at 9:00 AM in Holy Family Church in Rockland. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
