Joseph VanGogh

Joseph William van Gogh, age 91, of Rocky Mount, Missouri, passed away on October 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on August 14, 1934, in Vancouver, Washington; he was the youngest son of Antone and Johanna (Manders) van Gogh.
He was united in marriage to Catherine O'Brien on August 9, 1957. They shared 67 years together at the time of his passing.
Joseph graduated from the University of Portland with a degree in Industrial Administration pursuing careers in the auto and aviation industries. He loved flying and accumulated 4200 hours piloting aircraft. Joseph was an avid do-it-yourselfer and could build or fix most anything. He built homes as a hobby and would customize every home he lived in.
Those who knew Joseph will remember him as a man of deep faith and love-a devoted husband, a guiding father, and a loyal friend. His presence graced every memory, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to share his journey.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Catherine; his son Steven Anthony (Karen); daughters Carol Laufer (Glennon) and Therese; seven grandchildren: Steven William Laufer (Jessiann), Daniel Joun, Katherine van Gogh, Alan Joun, Michael Laufer, Sara Laufer, Katelyn Laufer and three great-grandchildren.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Antone and Johanna; his brothers (Rev.) James van Gogh and John van Gogh, his sisters Kay Lingo and Josephine Emond.
