Joseph M. Ventimiglia, a cherished soul known for his kindness, loving nature, and delightful sense of humor, passed away on May 10, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on July 8, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, Joseph's life was a testament to the joy and love he brought to everyone around him.
Joseph was the loving husband of Barbara Ventimiglia, with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories. He was a devoted father to Debbie (Rick) Delawder, Andy Ventimiglia, and Joe (Carolynn) Ventimiglia. His role as a grandfather was one of his greatest joys, as he doted on his grandchildren Valerie (Mike) Maucieri, Michael (Madison) Delawder, Alison Ventimiglia, Kelly Delawder, and Madelyn Ventimiglia. He held a special place in his heart for his late grandson Joey Ventimiglia, whose memory he treasured deeply. Joseph also cherished his great-grandchildren Olivia, Michael, Emma and Theodore.
A proud US Army veteran, Joseph played basketball and baseball while serving his country with honor and distinction in the 25th Infantry - Tropic Lightning, stationed in Hawaii. During his time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.
After his service, Joseph became the owner and operator of the Addison Fullerton Shell from 1973 until his retirement in 1998. His work ethic and dedication to his customers built a legacy of community and service in his neighborhood.
Joseph's passion for sports and card games was undeniable. He loved playing golf, basketball, and softball, sharing his enthusiasm and competitive spirit with friends and family alike. An avid Cubs fan, he never missed a game and could often be found cheering on his beloved team, instilling the same loyalty and passion in his children and grandchildren and poker games with his dear friends.
His love for his family was unparalleled. Joseph cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was a lively family gathering or a quiet evening at home. He was famous for his "Irish Goodbye," slipping away from parties with a smile, leaving his loved ones with fond memories of his presence.
Joseph's life was marked by the joy he found in simple pleasures. His laughter was infectious, his advice was sought after, and his presence was a comfort to all who knew him.
A visitation will be held Friday, May 16th at St. Philip the Apostle Church in Addison, from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am. Int. Private
