Joseph Patrick Walsh III, 53, passed into the loving arms of Christ on December 31st, 2023 after a 5-year hard-fought battle with Mesothelioma.

Born on July 30, 1970 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph Patrick (Pat) Walsh, Jr. and Laurel Walsh, Grand Junction, CO.

Joe graduated from San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara, CA and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Geography from the University of Santa Barbara (UCSB) where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Omega (AGO) Christian fraternity where he remained life-long friends with many of the brothers.

He moved to Grand Junction with his beloved wife Kim and cherished daughter Aveleen in 2014 when he became the Owner/Operator of the local Chick-fil-A.

Joe, along with his family, attended Calvary Bible Church.  His never-ending love of the Lord was always evident even during the most trying days of his illness.

Watching and cheering on his favorite football teams, the Cleveland Browns, Notre Dame and Ohio State, was one of Joe’s favorite ways to spend time with Aveleen.  More than a hobby was his interest in all things Superman.  A wallet, a mug, a pair of sox with capes on the heels were only some of the memorabilia he collected.

Always the life of the party, Joe lit up every room he entered.  His outgoing and larger-than-life personality entertained all who knew him, even those he sometimes pranked.

Joe’s hardworking attitude was an example to everyone who knew him.  His dedication to his Christian beliefs, family, studies, and former management position at McDonald’s Santa Barbara all led to his deep love of Chick-fil-A. Joe adopted CFA founder Truett Cathy’s vision for a heart of service toward team members and guests.  Joe and Kim’s caring for Grand Junction and all who lived and visited here was evident in every cheerful smile, handshake, laugh, Our Pleasure, and chicken sandwich they served.

Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph Sr. and Rosemary Walsh; Edward and Jean Wess; and his uncle Ed Wess.

He is survived by his wife Kim, daughter Aveleen, and parents Pat and Laurel Walsh.

Memorial Services will be held January 21st at 3pm at Victory Life Church in Fruita, CO.  Pastor Jess Miller, Calvary Bible Church, officiating.
