Joseph Weatherford Obituary
Best known to all as "Joey," he was born on July 1, 1958 in Yokohama, Japan. He was the son of Joseph William Weatherford, Sr. and Evelyn Louise Weatherford. He was raised in this area and , attended school in the Meriwether County school district. While attending Manchester High School, he worked for the former WFDR radio station as a teenager. He honorably served his country in both initially the US Army, before crossing over and retiring from the US Navy after a combined twenty years of service.. Following his military service, he lived in Texas and Arizona for many years, before returning home to care for his mother until her death. He was a former member of the Manchester Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed watching old television programs and historical shows. . He was an animal lover who enjoyed his cats and dogs. At his core, he was a servant who always sought to help others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, John William Parr, sister and brother-in-law, Violet Louise and Sutton H. Gill, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his sister, Kelly R. Blanton of Columbus, GA and brother James William Weatherford (Donna) of San Angelo, TX; Nephews Benjamin Gill, Woodbury, Ga, Justin Weatherford, St James, Minnesota, Cooper Alvarez, San Angelo, Texas. Nieces Candace Blanton, Pensacola, Fla, Jessica Cole, Fairhope Ala., Katherine Gill, Howey in the Hills, Fl., with several great nephews and nieces as well as his best friend, William Christopher Breck.
Thank you to the people at Columbus Hospice for their kind, caring spirit while taking care of Joseph.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
