Joseph White Obituary
Joe, as most people knew him, was born in Cloverport, KY on July 22, 1932 to the late John Walton White and Eugena Beavin White. He proudly served his country during the Korean War and for his efforts he was awarded the Purple Heart. Joe was a lifetime member of the DVA and was an avid lover of the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing and raising a garden. In his younger years he enjoyed playing pool and cards, especially poker. He enjoyed watching all sports throughout his life.
He worked for many years and retired from General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville. On December 24, 1954, he married the love of his life, Freda Jean Gregory, who survives in Louisville. They enjoyed 68 years together. Joe attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cloverport and was baptized there and started school there. He continued attending the church until he joined the Army.
Leaving behind to mourn his passing, but celebrating the life he lived is his beloved wife, Freda (nee Gregory) White of Louisville; sons and daughters-in-laws, Joseph (Myra) White and Larry (Judy) White; 3 grandchildren, Warren White, Travis (Kathie) White and Britney White.
A Mass celebrating Joseph's life will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, February 4, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cloverport with Fr. Michael Charles officiating. Burial will follow at Cloverport Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 9:00 am until service time at the church.
