Obituary
On May 10, 2023, God granted Joseph Bird Wilson his eternal wings to enter into heaven to unite once again with his beloved wife, Azalee Jackson Wilson, his son, James Wilson and two sisters, Azalee Cockrame and Rose DeCarlo.
Joseph Bird Wilson was born on June 28, 1926 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late Sadie Bird. Ensuring he would have a positive influencer in life his mother allowed his grandfather, Malachi Wilson to nourish and guide his as a man. Joseph received his formal education within the Newberry County School system of South Carolina. As an adult he relocated to Thomasville, North Carolina where he gained employment with Thomasville Furniture Industry, Plant D as a Ripsaw operator. He retired in 1977, after twenty-five years of service. Shortly after his first retirement he entered back into the workforce at Thomasville City Schools as a custodian, where he worked for an additional 25 years before retiring for the second time.
Joseph will be remembered for his love for others. He volunteered his time delivering meals on wheels to the Thomasville community. He also shared his talents repairing small engines such as lawn mowers for his family and friends.
Leaving to cherish his loving memories to his daughter, Laura Laymon of Whitmire, South Carolina, three grandchildren; Angela Laymon, Kwyna Laymon and Casey Laymon, six great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
